Dr. Larry Tabatchnick - Oral Surgeon Dr Tabatchnick was born and raised in Millburn, New Jersey. He received his undergraduate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1978. He completed his dental training at Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dental Medicine, Hackensack, NJ in 1984.

Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and completed a general practice residency in 1985. Dr Tabatchnick practiced as a general dentist for the next eight years, spending the bulk of his practice time performing minor Oral Surgery and IV sedations. During this period he had assignments to KI Sawyer AFB in Upper Michigan, Osan Air Base in South Korea and Plattsburg AFB, NY.

In 1992 he moved to San Antonio Texas where he entered an MD/Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery program at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He completed his Medical Degree with the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1996 as well as a first year internship in General Surgery at Wilford Hall Medical Center in 1997. Dr Tabatchnick went on to finish his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training in 1998. He was then assigned overseas to Osan AFB, South Korea as the consultant to the Air Force in Oral Surgery on the Korean peninsula.

He returned to the U.S. in 1999 and served at Langley AFB in Virginia for the next 5 years. He served as chairman of the Oral Surgery department, as well as a faculty member to a one year Advanced Training in General Dentistry program. During his tour at Langley AFB, he had the opportunity to travel on a humanitarian mission to Peru, where he treated indigent families from the outlying areas of Trujillo on the northern coast. In 2004, Dr Tabatchnick moved to Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio where he was chairman of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery department and trained 31 AEGD residents over the next four years. While at Wright Patterson AFB he was deployed to Iraq, working with the head and neck trauma team at Balad Air Base. While stationed at Wright Patterson, he had the opportunity to complete another humanitarian mission to the Lake Titicaca region of Bolivia. Dr Tabatchnick retired from the Air Force in July of 2008 as a full Colonel with 24 years of service to his country.

Dr. Tabatchnick passed his Board Certification exam in February 2001, earning diplomat status with the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also a member of the Society of Air Force Clinical Surgeons, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Tabatchnick is an instructor with American Heart Association in both Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support.

Dr. Tabatchnick has a wide scope of interest in Oral Surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, bone grafting and reconstruction, pathology, Oral medicine, and Orthognathic surgery. He has two children, Jeremy and Melissa. He likes to spend his free time with his wife Mary,  traveling the world to see new and exciting places.
